Beverly, Right Here
By Kate DiCamillo
Beverly put her foot down on the gas. They went faster still.
This was what Beverly wanted — what she always wanted. To get away. To get away as fast as she could. To stay away.
Beverly Tapinski has run away from home plenty of times, but that was when she was just a kid. By now, she figures, it’s not running away. It’s leaving. Determined to make it on her own, Beverly finds a job and a place to live and tries to forget about her dog, Buddy, now buried underneath the orange trees back home; her friend Raymie, whom she left without a word; and her mom, Rhonda, who has never cared about anyone but herself. Beverly doesn’t want to depend on anyone, and she definitely doesn’t want anyone to depend on her. But despite her best efforts, she can’t help forming connections with the people around her — and gradually, she learns to see herself through their eyes. In a touching, funny, and fearless conclusion to her sequence of novels about the beloved Three Rancheros, #1 New York Times best-selling author Kate DiCamillo tells the story of a character who will break your heart and put it back together again.

I think this was my favorite of the series. Beverly is now 14, and she has decided to run away. Louisiana has gone away to a new home, and Buddy has passed away. Other than Raymie, she feels like there is nothing left to live for. She gets a ride, and she ends up living in a trailer by the sea with an old lady. But then she meets Emmet, and her life is starting to get better. Read it to find out what happens!!
This book wasn’t too bad, but it wasn’t too good either. The book didn’t really have very much adventure or humor, (which are usually the books I like), but it still was very descriptive.
I think the author portrayed the character really well, but she has to act her age, she feels more like a 7th grader to me than a high schooler. The character development was good, and it ended really nicely. Kate DiCamillo could do better, though.
How have most people not read this book! It is perfect!!!
I decided to read this book because the cover looked interesting. I thought the book was a good one because there were some very interesting parts.
Kate DiCamillo is one of my favorite authors! Every book of hers that I have read, I love. This one is no exception. The main character, Beverly Tapinski, leaves home after a series of disappointments and losses. However, she finds a place in the world among strangers who take her in, extend some kindness, and show her that you're never alone.
