I love the movie, and the book is just as good! It was a super good movie because of treating black people, and NASA. It's a cool movie with the actors and math. I highly recommend this book!
Hidden Figures Young Readers' Edition
By Margot Lee Shetterly
The uplifting, amazing true story—a New York Times bestseller
This edition of Margot Lee Shetterly’s acclaimed book is perfect for young readers. It is the powerful story of four African-American female mathematicians at NASA who helped achieve some of the greatest moments in our space program. Now a major motion picture starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Kirsten Dunst, and Kevin Costner.
Before John Glenn orbited the earth, or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as “human computers” used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets, and astronauts, into space.
This book brings to life the stories of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden, who lived through the Civil Rights era, the Space Race, the Cold War, and the movement for gender equality, and whose work forever changed the face of NASA and the country.

I am currently reading it in school and I love it! Except the story seems to drag on.. But it's easy to read and very informal!
this book sends a strong message I suggest everyone in DOGOnews to read this book please!!!! tell everyone you know that this book sends a strong message!
My mom chose this book for me when we went to the library. When I first saw the book I knew that there was a movie based on it, but I thought it had to do with ghosts, because of the title and the cover. Also, I did not read the description on the back: i just decided to start reading. Its based on four African-American women Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughan and Christine Darden who worked together to do mathematics calculations during WWII to improve airplanes and missiles and then later become mathematician and engineers of NASA.
Hidden Figures is about four African-American women who helped the United States launch the first humans into space. Their names were Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden. They worked as mathematicians at NACA, now known as NASA. They worked during World War 2, the Space Race, and other important events. But they also worked when segregation against black people was in play. It was a struggle for them, but they persisted, with determination, confidence, and pride.
Isnt this a TV show??? well i think it is in Australia anyways :)
It’s actually a movie on Disney+! I strongly recommend to read this book and watch the movie though!
inspiring
I liked this book, but at sometimes during the story the plot can be slow moving. I found this book very inspiring to girls wanting to pursue their dreams.
