Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: The Illustrated Edition (Harry Potter, Book 1)
By J.K. Rowling
I have always loved the Harry Potter book series. It is not only full of magic, adventure, joy, creativity, and Voldemort, it is a timeless classic that everyone knows the story too. When I heard that they were creating a picture book version to it, I was blown away and had to get my hands on it. The book has the same plot and words as the original, except now add color and art to the long list of traits I mentioned in the beginning. In case you don't know the plot to the book this is a simple breakdown of what happens; Harry Potter is not a normal boy whose parents died when he was a baby. He has weird talents that are unexplained like how he has a lightning scar, can talk to snakes and can make random things happen just by thinking about it. He lives with his awful Aunt, Uncle, and cousin who gives him the Cinderella treatment and always are rude to him. For heaven's sake, they made him sleep under the stairs. One day, Harry Potter gets a letter addressed to him with his exact location(under the stairs and everything), but the Dursleys won't let him open it after they see a red crest seal on it. They toss it into the garbage. As the days pass hundreds of letters are being sent and owls are appearing at his door, but still, the Uncle is taking all of them and not allowing Harry to see any of them. To avoid any more letters reaching them, Uncle Dursley decides to send all of them to a shabby house on a small island in the middle of the sea. This day happens to be Harry's 11th birthday. All of a sudden, a giant knock hits the door and they all startle themselves awake. It turns out to be a giant named Hagrid who explains to Harry that he is a wizard and has been accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After that, he leaves his family, goes school supply shopping with Hagrid, and takes a train to the school. When he gets there he meets a lot of new people and makes best friends with Hermione Granger and Ron Weasely who are in the same house as himself. He also learns what truly happened to his parents and it turns out to be a villain named Voldemort. He killed them and tried to kill Harry too, but his mother sacrificed herself instead and made a bond that destroyed Voldemort. After that day, Harry Potter gained the title of The Boy who Lived. People think that Voldemort is still out there resting so he can come back for revenge. And like all foreshadowing is, the fact turns out to be true. But we don't know that yet. They start hearing noises coming from around the top floor of the school so Harry and the gang go there to check it out. They see a giant 3 headed dog whose name is Fluffy. After this day, they have Hermione do some research and figure out that the dog is guarding a magical stone called the Sorceror's Stone which can give someone youth and that the owner of the dog is Hagrid. Their only lead is the suspicious Potions teacher, Severus Snape who somehow is always seen at the wrong time, doing the wrong thing. During this time, they got more information, saved Hermione from a troll, and met a few ghosts. Back to the present. Now that they had figured out that the owner of the dog was Hagrid, they all go to HAgrid's hut and trick him into giving them valuable information. Then they venture back into the attic with Fluffy and play soft music that makes him fall asleep for as long as they need to get past him. Then they go through the little latch underneath Fluffy and find a mysterious room in which there are puzzles they have to solve in order to get to the stone before Voldemort does. They solve a key riddle, plays chess with themselves being hit if they fail, and finally come into the room in which they find the stone. In the room, Harry Potter comes face to face with Mr. Qiurell the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who is actually a reincarnated version of Voldemort. So he and Voldemort have an epic face-off . . . .

The Witches
By Roald Dahl
This story is about a boy who lived with his grandmother in Norway. They wanted to get rid of all the horrible witches in England and MOSTLY of the wicked GRAND HIGH WITCH who is the one who rules all the cruel witches. But there was a problem.......... What will happen when they go to the Hotel Magnificent? Who are they going to meet? Will boy and his grandmother get what they want? I enjoyed this book because it gives you a lot of suspense. Roald Dahl shows that he is on the children´s side. My favourite part of the story is when boy puts the mouse maker in the soup.I love the way Roald Dahl invents words and makes his characters REALLY interesting. I recommend this book to children who are 8 or more years old. This book is just right for the ones who like adventures and suspense. Roald Dahl is a fantastic writer because he uses a lot of adjectives, he describes very well and includes suspense in the stories.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2, Special Rehearsal Edition Script
By J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, John Tiffany
This book is about the next generation of witches and wizards. Hermione and Ron are married and Harry and Ginny are married and have kids. Hermione and Ron have Rose Granger-Weasley and Hugo Granger-Weasley while Harry and Ginny have James Potter, Albus Potter and Lily Potter. On Albus's first day of school at Hogwarts, James taunts him about the fact that he might be in Slytherin. Albus tells his dad (Harry) and Harry tells him that there's nothing wrong with being in Slytherin (which there isn't) and that it's okay. Aboard the Hogwarts Express, Albus befriends Scorpius Malfoy (Draco Malfoy's son) while Rose stays well away. SPOILER ALERT!!: The Sorting Hat declares that Albus is a Slytherin! He has to dodge rude comments and nastypeople who tease him just because he's in that house instead of Gryffindor. In their fourth year, Albus meets a young woman who, apparantly, is called Delpini Diggory or Delphi for short. SPOILER ALERT!!: Delphi is actually Lord Voldemort's daughter and plans to use Hermione's time-turner to get him back!! (But that's just cos she wants to see her dad one last time though.)The boys decide to help Delphi because she says that she is just trying to revive Cedric and says that he is her cousin. Will the boys stop Delphi before the world is ruled by the Dark Lord again?! Or will all be lost?! Find out in this book full of magic and mischief! Side-note: In 1998, Bellatrix Lestrange used a Amortencia (a love potion) on Voldemort and they had Delphi while he was in love with her. That's how blue and silver-haired Delphi was born. P.S. Sorry, I know I'm a massive Potterhead!!!
The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 5)
By Rick Riordan
The author could very well be the Greek God of Literature, given how great this book is! This series was at one point my favorite, and "The Last Olympian" was the best of the five! Percy Jackson is approaching 16 years of age, and the prophecy that defined the series up to now is threatening to be realized. But Kronos and his forces are far from being complacent; rather, their efforts to topple the gods to usher a new titanic age are only becoming more prevalent. The previous accomplishments and victories of Percy and his allies pale in comparison to the one they must confront now: an onslaught of of the Titans and their reinforcements. The demigods know there will be hardship in the process, but it's either suffering for chance at peace--or a complete alteration of their lives for the worse. All of the author's books were great in my opinion, but this one is particularly notable for its strong ending; so many series I've read have it where the first few books are entertaining, but the later ones decline in quality. "The Last Olympian" doesn't suffer from that problem; in fact, I believe it is better than any of its predecessors save "The Lightning Thief" (and that only because it starts the series off strong). It perpetuates the lovable parts of the core characters and plot, while introducing other elements than enhance the progression of the story. Percy, Annabeth, and their comrades and enemies are consistent in their personalities, and while there are some portions where nonsensical magic interferes with a logical storyline, the decisions made by the characters (and especially the prophetic choice itself) incorporate an engaging reality to the narrative. Yet I also appreciate the incorporation of mythological elements. While pure magic I do not particularly enjoy, having powers continues to open more possibilities to Percy and the other characters--vastly more than a normal person would be able to enjoy. Reading this book has also latently given me knowledge about Greek mythology, some of which I still use today. It incorporates emotional turns as well as lots of action, and neither gets tiring at any point throughout the novel. I would definitely recommend this to people seeking an enjoyable read while learning simultaneously; in terms of educational value in combination with entertainment, I would refer to this book above all others. But I would also recommend it to those looking for just pure exuberance: it accomplishes that wish, and much more!
The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 4)
By Rick Riordan
I rate this book a 5/5 because it has a VERY INTERESTING plot, amazing characters, and it's even a bit funny as well! And the theme is awesome as well, I mean, greek mythology? SO cool! I definitely recommend this book to all ages (except like, preschoolers or kindergarteners of course)!! But there is one flaw.... When you start reading it, you'll want to read more and more and more! XD! So, that is why you must read percy jackson immediately!!! And guess what, if you finish this series, there's even the other series: Percy jackson and the heroes of olympus!!! And others as well that all relate to greek mythology! Like The Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase, and Trials of Apollo!
The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 2)
By Rick Riordan
This is the second book of the Percy Jackson series. A lot of important events happened in this stories. it started off with a competition, it showed that Percy Jackson had a new competitor, and she's the daughter of war, Clarisse. She's really tough, strong and clever, and very competitive, likes to tease Percy Jackson about that all he did (In the lightning thief serie) was because of luck. And then, he found out that he has a step brother, that is half god, half cyclops. During a usual day, they heard something huge, sounds like something is bumping the wall of Thalia (the daughter of Zeus). It brought a great disaster in the camp, because without that wall, anything, monsters, beasts can go in and destroy the half bloods. So they decided to send a group of the strongest kids to go find the golden fleece, known that it can heal anything. Although the directors sent Clarisse, and another half goat, but Percy thinks that he has the responsibility to save the camp, because of the prophecy he heard. And so he went on an adventure to find the golden fleece, to save the Olympus. It's also very intense to read, the scenes reveal in your eyes vividly, a really good book to read, it's also pretty funny. I really recommend this book the kids in any age, because it's not too hard, and it's interesting, have fun reading this fantastic book!
