A Michigan-based designer has built an electric scooter that disguises as a telecom box. Nomoto — short for "No motorcycle here" — is the brainchild of Joey Ruiter. This innovative prototype is designed to outsmart bike thieves. It blends seamlessly into the urban landscape.

“I wanted to create a piece that is museum-worthy that’s completely unnoticeable and so familiar, you’re just going to walk past it,” Ruiter said.

When parked, Nomoto's handlebars are hidden behind a drop-down cover. A press of a button reveals the wheels, transforming it into a functional bike. Flip-up side covers conceal small storage units. A rear cover hides a seat pad for the rider. The electric scooter features headlights and brake lights. But its boxy design leaves no room for mirrors or turn signals.

Nomoto is not Ruiter's first clever concept vehicle. In 2019, he released "Snoped," a snow bike that resembled a rack [video below]. Other clever ideas include the "Tinnie 10," a triangular boat powered by an electric motor. Unfortunately, all of Ruiter's designs are just prototypes. They are not meant for mass production.
